Hey there! So you found the most interesting page on my site. This is my recent Oahu wedding, Hawaii wedding page. Honestly, it's a blog. The story behind this blog, well, it started out purely about Hawaii weddings, then it evolved into everything and "all of the above." Basically, ITS MY THOUGHTS!! So I write about anything on here. I updated this blog quite frequently. You can learn more about me, my quirks, my style here. And of course, you'll get wedding tips as well. REID AND DEB'S WEDDING VIDEO
Alright, so you're pulling out your hair right now and yelling at me, "Steve, where the hell are those wedding blogs!" Sorry, I've been so busy with weddings and stuff, blogging kinda took a backseat to everything. But hey, I'm writing something now ain't I? I will start blogging again, I promise. In fact, I'm working on a great update as we speak. In the meantime, enjoy this wedding video. It's hot off the editing machine! Steve
MISS ME? I'M....BAAAAACK!
My friend, Ryan, at his wedding...hiding.
YO! I'M BACK FROM MY TWO WEEKS OFF! WANNA KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TOO? LOTS!I don't know where to start. After a busy month of May and early June, where I planned over 40 plus weddings, and played photo and videographer to all of them, I finally had some time off. I really didn't plan on taking any days off and didn't plan on any vacation in June. It just worked out that I didn't get any inquiries for two weeks in June. It just worked out perfect. Now I know what many of you are thinking, that June is a busy month for weddings, hence the nick "June Bride." For local weddings, yes, it's busy. But in the destination wedding arena, June is an average booking month. Anyway, so how did I spend my time? Let me start from the beginning. ONLINE PLAY OF CALL OF DUTY IS ADDICTINGAs of late, I've been addicted to the online game-play of the video game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In fact, right before I sat down to write this blog, I was on my PS3 playing a few rounds of team death-match. I'm actually pretty good at this game now, making me a full-fledged dork-and-a-half. But when I first started, I was horrible. What can I say, I'm hooked. My friends Joey and Doss are hooked too. Were do we sign up for our nerd badge? from left to right: My grandmother, my Aunty Shar, me, my mom, then dad.
MY MOM'S BIRTHDAY
My mom turned 57 years old. She doesn't look it, or act it. Age of course, is a state of mind. We had to use an "eight" on her birthday pie because we had no idea where our "seven" went. Oh well. For her birthday we saw Shrek 4 at the theaters and came home to watch Shrek 3. For dinner we cooked scallops and salmon, all cooked on the grill. It's roast time
MY ROAST
For father's day, I made a prime-rib on a roast. It was my first attempt. He bought a cheap yet very functional miniature spit. There is an art to roasting that I have yet to master. My first attempt came out pretty good. My future attempts will come out even better now that I figured out how to control the temperature of the fire accurately.
I had a great view of Ryan's back during the cake cutting...GROOMSMANNING IT UPSo the big news is that I was finally a groomsman at a wedding! One of my closest friends got married and asked me to be part of his wedding party. Now I know many of you are rather surprised that I was never a groomsman at a wedding, but it's true. Since I own a wedding business, the first person my friends usually call is me, and it's not to be one of the groomsmen, it's to work. But not this time baby! Me and the other groomsmen.
Being one of the groomsmen was a strange feeling for me. It's different to be on the opposite side of the camera, and it's also different for me to be complete powerless at a wedding. Talk about an ego check.
I couldn't go through this wedding without taking pictures though. I brought my trusty G10 with me and snapped some great shots.
The groom, Ryan, happy as can be...and eating salad. The dessert was awesome... in the background, my phones.Yes, I'm always on call for you, my brides...even when I'm at a wedding! The smoking bridesmaids...hot. ...The first dance...Having one of the best seats at the wedding was also a different feeling. I did notice that while the sitting at the head table is considered the best seat in the house, it's really not, well at least my seat. During the cake cutting ceremony, I saw nothing but the grooms back. During speeches, I didn't have that great of a view of the speaker either.
Pink was the theme color. Thank god the tuxes were not pink. Now that's a good looking couple.Last picture of me in a tux WITH NO NECK! In orange, the groom's sister.
The overall experience of hanging out with my friends before the wedding, during the wedding, and after, was awesome. Would I do it again? Oh yeah, without a doubt. I can get used to not doing anything but eating at a wedding...haha. But I'm running out of single friends as most of them are already married. Alright people, I'm outta here. Got more videos to edit, weddings to plan.

A WEDDING VIDEO!!
JEFF AND ASHELY'S WEDDING VIDEO! I'm feeling lazy. Haha. Hey what's new! Anyway, just finished yet another wedding video. I have about 4 more to do, so I'm pulling all-nighters. That means I won't be blogging as much. But...with that said, I'll do the second best thing. I'll post those wedding videos online. Here's the first one, Jeff and Ashley. I won't blog about Jeff and Ashley just yet (they have to wait their turn..hahah). But just to let you know, this is what my wedding videos look like these days. Isn't HD beautiful? Jeff and Ashley purchased the Ceremony Package, video-edit upgrade, and the Blu-Ray HD upgrade as well. The picture quality is just amazing. Anyway, I'm off to bed...it's 4am right now! Yikes! Steve
Ah...break time! Well sorta...
If only football season was right about now.... BREAK TIME FOR ME!Well, my type of breakSo here's something funny. It's June and I have about two weeks off before my next wedding, so I have a break! For the month of May, until now, I've had back-to-back weddings, vow renewals, etc..etc... And although I love my job, love getting outside the office, there's nothing like staying home and focusing on office work.
My break truly isn't a true vacation though. I'm not going anywhere, and I'm truly not stopping work. I'm still planning weddings, I have blogs to write, videos to finish editing, and pictures to mail out. I'm just..."not out in the field..."
Anyway, it's 4am in the morning right now. I better get to bed!

DANNY AND JADE'S WEDDING VIDEO!
Check out what Danny's wearing
So this isn't the blog about Danny and Jade. It's just their wedding video. I thought I'd post it online for your viewing pleasure. Danny and Jade tied the knot on the North Shore of Oahu. White clouds rolled over the location hours before the ceremony was about to begin, so I was not able to get the blue sky shots I wanted. Their photos and video still came out great. Their wedding was the last standard-definition wedding video that I shot. Now, I shoot everything in HD. It's a route I had to go since almost everyone I know owns a flat-screen. Anyway, I'm off to my wedding for today. Talk to you all soon. Steve Young http://www.dreamweddingshawaii.com
Jeff and Lisa's Hawaii Wedding
The new family, united. THE BROKEN DISHWASHERHow a broken dishwasher led to a perfect matchOkay, time for me to fess up. I'm a sucker for love stories. Yes, I'm a guy, I'm straight, I have testosterone flowing out of my ears, but I'm a sucker for love stories. I love watching movies with happy endings where the guy gets the girl, listening to love songs, hey, every once in awhile I get rather emotional during some of my weddings. So here's a great love story. It includes a man, Jeff, who had never been married before, a woman, Lisa, who was in the perfect place at the perfect time, and a broken dishwasher. Interested yet? I bet you are. I'll let Lisa take the floor from here. "Hey Steve, it's great to hear from you!Life is great, married life is awesome, and everything is going super!!! How's that for "the good life". We've having fun!!!
How'd we meet? A lot of people laugh about this. Jeff came to my house to repair my dishwasher (a friend of a friend) and that's all that it took. He came over, the repair took about 5-minutes but after two hours we couldn't stop talking about our mothers (whom we both lost a few years earlier) and our daughters, whom we loved very much. It was so refreshing to talk to someone with the same priorities as I had. After he left, my oldest Jenna asked how long I'd known him and was shocked when I told her it was the first time we had talked. Her comment, "there's something there..." and boy was she right...." Jeff's parents couldn't make it to their wedding, but they were there in spirit. These photos he brought represented them. I thought that was pretty cool. You can really feel the warmth in this picture"....Jeff was 40-years old, never been married, had seen a lot of friends lose everything in a divorce, had parents that were divorced and swore he'd never get married - girls were evil. I, on the other hand, was convinced that marriage was good if both people loved each other and therefore never gave up hope to find the love of my life. Jeff cautioned me that he was not a good boyfriend because he worked all the time so we went into the relationship slow...." And to think, it all started with a broken dishwasher The new family. "....The best part was that we had so much fun together - Jeff makes me laugh and we love to be silly...the bonus was that our kids got along great and we always had fun together, After a solid year Jeff finally admitted to being in a relationship - I was more than a friend - and from there things continued to grow. It wasn't until we had been together for 4-years that he asked my dad for permission to marry me, got down on one knee, and proposed at sunset on a pier in Clearwater, Florida with our children standing around. It was amazing!! Our broken pieces fit together!!!......" I like this shot. Taken on my snapshot camera G10. I had to shoot this picture on film given the contrast. "......Jeff's only request was that we get married bare feet, at sunset on a beautiful beach...and what could be better than Hawaii. You and Reverend Elias were two of the most wonderful people to help us start this married life...we joke that our wedding was the best $400 we've ever spent...it was everything we dreamed it would be...thank YOU!!! Jeff's friends are still amazed that he's a married man...and we've beat all the odds...still living like newlyweds and having a blast!!! Life is good!!!"
-Lisa
All shot at Magic Island I added a little purplish tinge to this shot. So wasn't that a great love story? God works in mysterious ways sometimes. It just so happened that this time, he worked through a broken dishwasher. Jeff and Lisa are the second couple of mine to meet through a broken appliance. Jeff, Lisa, I wish you my very best. And if you ever find yourself back in Oahu one day, be sure to look me up! Steve Young The Hawaii Wedding Report http://www.dreamweddingshawaii.com
