Hawaii weddings

My Past Weddings...

Hey there! So you found the most interesting page on my site. This is my recent Oahu wedding, Hawaii wedding page. Honestly, it's a blog. The story behind this blog, well, it started out purely about Hawaii weddings, then it evolved into everything and "all of the above." Basically, ITS MY THOUGHTS!! So I write about anything on here. I updated this blog quite frequently. You can learn more about me, my quirks, my style here. And of course, you'll get wedding tips as well.

Waialae Beach Park...the low down.

Waialae Beach Park

WAIALAE BEACH PARK 101
...why this park is really not one of my favorites wedding spots...

Waialae Beach Park is a location that I avoid like the plague because it's not a very nice place to get married. Chances are, you've probably have seen this location featured on other wedding websites, and have seen pictures that glamorize this beach. Wedding companies swear by this location. Well, let me be the first wedding maverick and swear AT the location.

I hate it....

Pictures of this place looks great, but as we all know, looks can be deceiving! The truth is most weddings here are shot from one angle and that's out to sea. Shooting out to sea hides the fact that Waialae Beach Park is a sliver of sand behind a group of condos.

...as you can see, you are literally getting married behind a condo...
this is Waialae Beach Park.

Wedding location from a different angle...
...right by the sidewalk...

Personally, I think a wedding couple who pays $3,000 to come to Hawaii to tie the knot should not get married next to a sidewalk.

...from another angle...you can see the island in the background....

Of course, this is just my opinion, and I realize there are couples who really don't mind getting married in a place like this. I just want to let couples know that if they do book this location, this is what Waialae Beach Park would really look like.

I prefer locations which really feel like a true secluded beach, such as this...

...secluded....more of a true island feel...it just doens't photograph nice, it is nice

So where do I like to do my weddings? Anywhere except town. Anywhere except...well Waialae Beach Park. Town feels...well like town. I've always told my couples, the farther you get away from Waikiki, the better. There really are no great places to get married in town. It's not that I can't get great photos in town, it's just that there is much more to a wedding than just great photos....

Just my two cents... I'm off to play some football....
